Intensive Technique with Piper
Friday, August 12th 7pm – 8:55pm
This seminar will take students through Piper Method techniques one at a time, each starting at Level II for a review of posture and positioning, then moving up to Level III with increased speed and complexity, then adding layers and full time 3/4 shimmies to bring things up to Level IV.
Rhea’s Graceful Arms plus Finger Cymbals Made Easy
Saturday, August 13th 11:30am – 1pm
Rhea uses Chakra Theory and principles of Ancient Greek Dance to enable students to dance with their whole body in graceful, fluid movements while playing finger cymbals at the same time. You really can do it!

Now Rhea’s famous lightning hipwork and smooth transitions can be yours! Dramatic shimmy movements and eye-catching traveling steps combine into one dynamic package.
The Complete Dancer with Piper
Saturday, August 14th 3:30 – 5pm
This class focuses on layering upper-body movements over your hipwork for projection of personality and emotion. Even dancers with fabulous hipwork can appear wooden or remote. Draw your audience in by expressing yourself with your chest, head, and arms.
Chobi with Rhea
Sunday, August 15th 11:30am – 1pm
Liven up your solos with moves from this catchy Iraqi folkdance, or use the combos in group choreographies or line dances with your friends. There’s some fast hipwork here, but beginners won’t feel left behind, and advanced dancers will enjoy the hopping fun!
Rhea’s Spicy Cymbals
Sunday, August 15th 1:30pm - 3pm
Originally designed as an interactive duet, these combos with cymbals are great to use alone in drum solos, or in call-and-respond troupe numbers.
Piper’s Dynamic Step Progressions and Transitions
Sunday, August 15th 3:30pm – 5pm
Piper’s signature moves (the kind that can get a bored audience clapping and cheering), plus interesting and fluid ways to get from one step or direction of movement to another.
Piper Method Technique, Levels I & II
Monday, August 16th
Level I 7pm – 8:15pm
You need good grammar and a decent vocabulary in order to express yourself writing poetry. You need a solid foundation of technique in order to express yourself in dance. Start here to begin at the beginning or to brush up on your posture and isolations.
Level II 8:15pm – 9:30pm
Start here if you are ready to speed up your hipwork, slow down your taqsim, and begin layering.
Rhea’s Sibek Choreography
Tuesday, August 17th 7:30pm – 9:30pm
This is classic American Belly Dance, Rhea style. From 7 ‘till the break, Rhea will focus on technique and combos – these are the moves that she uses when she performs! In the second half, you’ll learn to put the combos together in this dynamic choreography. Students are encouraged but not required to bring cymbals, a tambourine, or a drum to complete the dance.
All classes will be held at Meadow Mill in Baltimore. For directions, go to www.pipermethod.com. Saturday and Sunday classes are $20 each, $50 for any three, $90 for all six (such a deal!). Weekday evening classes are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. On-line sales will end at noon on Friday, August 12th. After that you will have to pay the door price!
